Since its appearance in Serras on May 30, 1913, cholera managed to spread rapidly. Indicative of the tragic situation was the death of 17 people in Serras, as of today, June 4, 1913. This number only concerns the city, not counting the deaths in the Prefecture.
The plague of cholera was our main enemy, which decimated the civilian population as well as the military.
