ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΑ Μὴ τοὺς στεφάνους ζημιωθῆναι φέρων, Φέρει κεφαλῆς, Ἀλέξανδρος ζημίαν. Saint Alexander, at first, was in the darkness of error. Later, however, he shone like a bright star with his good confession. For he made a severe check on the error of the heathen, and smote the imaginary devil with his words. So the deluded pagans, unable to endure the courage and strength of the Saint, tried to overcome his magnanimity by various ways and flatteries. But because they could not, they beheaded him. But God rewarded him with the healing gift, because his holy relic heals every disease of those who turn to it with faith.
