ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΑ On June 5, 1941, after much pressure, Metropolitan Konstantinos was forced to withdraw from the city of Serres. As he left the Metropolis, he raised his hands to heaven and prayed that God would protect his Christians, crush the invaders and end the suffering of the Metropolis and his flock with his return. He left accompanied to the Strymonas bridge by a Bulgarian policeman. On the bridge, he assured the policeman that he would be in Nigrita and that his sermons would be heard, while his presence would be felt by them. He expressed his disgust for the policeman and his nation in harsh words and crossed the bridge into German-occupied territory.

ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΑ On June 5, 1911, the ordination of Ambrosios Nikolaidis, assistant bishop of Serres, to bishop of Christoupolis took place with particular splendor and religious reverence. This important ceremony took place in the Metropolitan Church of Serres, one of the most imposing churches in the region. Ambrosios Nikolaidis, known for his devotion and work in the Church, was ordained by three prominent metropolitans of the time. Saint Dorotheos (255 - 362) was a Christian bishop of Tire and a martyr of the Orthodox church. Not to be confused with the elder of Antioch. He is traditionally credited with the Acts of the Septuagint (which may be the same work as the lost Septuagint), which is mentioned in Luke 10:1. Saint Dorotheos was a scholar not only of the divine scriptures, but also of Greek education. He was barren from birth, whom Diocletian made procurator of Tyre. He flourished in the year 303, when he endured many hardships in the persecutions of Diocletian, and was finally exiled. He returned to his church, after the evil had passed, and exhorted the faithful until the time of Julian and then fled to Odessa.
