Daedalus: Myths of Crete, Beijing, China

On April 14, the opening ceremony of a special exhibition titled "Daedalus: Legends of Crete" was held at the Palace Museum in Beijing. With Daedalus, the legendary master craftsman of Greek mythology, serving as the narrative axis, the exhibition presents one of the most important origins of ancient Greek civilization — the Minoan civilization, which flourished on the island of Crete during the Bronze Age. The exhibition is divided into six sections and cleverly combines mythology with archaeological evidence.

A total of 172 ancient artifacts from the collections of the Heraklion Archaeological Museum are on display — many of which have never been exhibited before, and others have never traveled beyond Greece’s borders — covering a wide chronological range from prehistoric times to the historical periods of Crete.

The exhibition is a flagship event celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Palace Museum.
