Dionysiou Areopagitou, one of the most beautiful pedestrian streets in Athens, served as a spectacular period setting for the filming of Karagatsis' beloved masterpiece, The Megali Chimaira (Great Chimera).

"M. Karagatsis' iconic novel The Megali Chimaira (The Great Chimera) has been adapted into a television series for the first time, directed by Dennis Iliadis and co-produced by ERT."

Historically, The Great Chimera was one of the main pacifist theories that had developed in European states shortly before the outbreak of World War I. It was used with the same metaphorical meaning as in the Greek language—representing a great unattainable desire or grand illusion, essentially a utopia—describing any future war.
