The Autonomous Republic of Northern Epirus was created in 1914, following the initiative of the Provisional Government of the same name, which was formed by representatives of Northern Epirus on February 17, 1914 in Argyrokastro. Its main pursuit was the autonomy of the region and the protection of basic rights of the Greek population, even within the Albanian state, to which it was later awarded. Byllis, Albania

ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΑ Byllis is perched high on top of a hill some 520 meters above sea level, overlooking the Vjosa River and definitely occupying a strong strategic position. The city is surrounded by sturdy Hellenistic walls over a distance of more than two kilometres, 3.5 meters thick and reaching a height of eight to nine meters; it is interrupted by six fortified entrance gates. ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΑ /  SHQIPTARE Apolonia which lived for 11 centuries between 620 BC and 479 was a city-state that originated as a product of the process of “Great 'Greek colonization''VIII-VI centuries BC, on the shores of Illyria, which were populated by the community of Taulantia tribal. Stefan Bizantini, one of ancient authors say that:''it was the largest city and most important of the 30-to colonies that were established across the Mediterranean with the name of god Apollo''.
