The Minoan Palaces of Crete Added to the UNESCO World Heritage List
The six emblematic Minoan Palaces of Crete — Zakros, Knossos, Phaistos, Malia, Zominthos, and Kydonia — have been officially inscribed today on the UNESCO World Heritage List, following a decision by the 47th Session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee.
This recognition affirms Crete’s unique cultural identity and highlights the universal significance of the Minoan Civilization, showcasing the Palaces not only as archaeological ensembles of exceptional value but also as living monuments of global cultural heritage.
